The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Jordan Romano on the 15-day injured list because of right middle finger inflammation in one of several moves Tuesday impacting the bullpen.
The Phillies selected the contract of right-hander Lou Trivino from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and recalled rookie righty Daniel Robert from Triple-A. They released right-hander Joe Ross after Monday's 13-3 loss to the host New York Mets.
Romano, 32, pitched on Monday, allowing four runs on two hits, one walk and one hit batter with two strikeouts in one inning. He is 2-4 with eight saves, an 8.23 ERA, 17 walks and 47 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings over 49 relief appearances in his first season with Philadelphia.
An All-Star for Toronto in 2022 and 2023, Romano has a career record of 22-21 with 113 saves, a 3.73 ERA, 105 walks and 332 strikeouts in 272 1/3 innings over 280 regular-season relief appearances for the Blue Jays (2019-24) and Phillies.
Romano signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in December to a reported one-year, $8.5 million contract.
Ross, 32, also pitched in the loss Monday in New York and yielded three runs on three hits, one walk and one hit batter in one inning. He was 2-1 this season with a 5.12 ERA, 18 walks and 39 strikeouts in 51 innings over 37 games (one start).
For his career, Ross is 31-35 with a 4.28 ERA, 188 walks and 508 strikeouts in 568 1/3 innings over 160 games (87 starts) for the Washington Nationals (2015-19, 2021), Milwaukee Brewers (2024) and Phillies.
The 25th overall pick of the 2011 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres, Ross signed a one-year contract with the Phillies in December for a reported $4 million.
Robert, who turns 31 on Saturday, has pitched 9 1/3 innings this season for the Phillies and has a 5.79 ERA with eight walks and 12 strikeouts in 12 relief appearances.
Philadelphia acquired Robert on May 1 from the Texas Rangers for minor league pitcher Enrique Segura. Robert was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and optioned to Lehigh Valley on Aug. 17.
Trivino, 33, signed as a free agent with Philadelphia on Aug. 4. He pitched in the majors this season for the San Francisco Giants (11 games, no starts) and Los Angeles Dodgers (26 games, two starts) and was a combined 3-1 with a 4.42 ERA, 13 walks and 29 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings.
