Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson has agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Watson, 26, is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, which means he will miss at least the first four games of this season as he recovers from the torn right ACL he suffered on Jan. 6 against the Bears. A second-round draft pick out of North Dakota State in 2022, Watson was in the last year of his rookie contract and headed for free agency after this season.
Green Bay has typically been cautious with players coming back from ACL injuries, but the Packers' coaching staff and GM Brian Gutekunst have commented about the speedy receiver's steady recovery throughout his rehab process.
Watson, who has dealt with a handful of injuries in his three-plus years in the league, has 98 catches for 1,653 yards and 14 touchdowns in 38 games (35 starts). His 16.9-yards-per-catch average ranks third in the league among players with at least 75 catches since the start of the '22 season.
