Alabama running back Jam Miller is expected to return from a dislocated collarbone in time for the Sept. 27 SEC showdown at Georgia.
Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer provided the update on Friday for Miller, who was injured during a scrimmage last Saturday.
Miller will sit out No. 8 Alabama's season opener at Florida State on Aug. 30 and is doubtful for home dates with Louisiana-Monroe (Sept. 6) and Wisconsin (Sept. 13). The Tide will have a bye week before visiting the No. 5 Bulldogs for their SEC opener.
'He's a leader for us, a quiet leader, but somebody the players all respect,' DeBoer said of Miller, per ESPN. 'Having that bye week, I feel good that he will be back out there. He does so many things for us at that position.'
A 5-foot-10, 221-pound senior, Miller led Alabama running backs with 668 rushing yards last season. He added 16 catches for 155 yards and finished with eight touchdowns (seven rushing, one receiving).
The running back rotation in Miller's absence will feature Daniel Hill and Richard Young with Dre Washington as a change of pace. Redshirt freshman Kevin Riley is also in the mix.
'It's going to be a little bit by committee until Jam gets back, and there's going to be a proving ground -- who can take care of the ball, who can advance the ball, take on the game plan and help us protect?' offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said, per ESPN. 'I'm excited to see who's going to come out here these next few days and take over.'
