Due to a combination of factors,KTMhas pulled the plug on its popular single-cylinder supersport, the RC 390. A recent report confirmed that KTM has discontinued RC 390 in global markets like UK, Europe and other international markets, while sales will continue as they are in India, where the model is manufactured in partnership with Bajaj Auto. Lets take a closer look.

Discontinued

One of the most popular single-cylinder supersport motorcycles in the world, , seems to be going through a rough patch, where sales are concerned. KTM has recently confirmed that RC 390 failed to secure enough demand in recent years. Thus leading to the discontinuation of RC 390 in international markets like UK and Europe.

In India, however, the demand is justified enough to sustain its limited production and hence this model will continue to be on sale here. In global markets, whatever dealer stock is remaining, might be sold off across the calendar year 2026. Also, the costs associated to update its 373cc engine to Euro 5+ norms would have raised sticker prices, making it a tough sell.

It has to be noted that RC 390 is the last body-style from KTMs 390 portfolio to still employ the older 373cc engine, while Duke and Adventure have moved on to the newer 399cc LC4c engine, which is Euro 5+ emission standards. KTM has been working on a new RC 390 model powered by this 399cc LC4c engine, launch of which is uncertain as of now.

Currently, RC 390 is listed on KTM Indias official website, but prices say Coming Soon. Which is quite interesting. Last known price of RC 390 during the GST 2.0 reforms was at Rs 3.23 lakh (Ex-sh). KTM could be introducing a new set of colours with RC 390, which might launch some time soon and prices might get revised then.

What to expect from new model?

A new generation isunder testingand has been spied on multiple times abroad. It features a new fairing with a front fascia resembling 1st Gen RC 390. The fairing now has a pronounced window peeping into the engine and cooling system. Distinctive features of this motorcycle are underbelly exhaust and the banana-shaped swingarm.

2026

It will share its powertrain with other modern 390 range of motorcycles like 390 Duke, 390 Adventure and 390 SMC lineup. This engine is capable of developing around 46 PS of peak power and 40 Nm of peak torque, mated to a slipper clutch, bi-directional quick-shifter and a 6-speed gearbox. It will be loaded to the brim with features and electronics and be priced accordingly. A launch timeline is currently unknown.
