Mikaela Shiffrin edged fellow American Paula Moltzan to claim her sixth World Cup slalom title of the season and her 70th all-time during a night race in Flachau, Austria on Tuesday.
Shiffrin posted the fastest time of the first run and went on to win in 1 minute, 50.52 seconds -- 0.41 seconds ahead of Moltzan -- for her sixth win in seven slalom events this season. It also extended her World Cup victory record to 107 overall.
Moltzan, a Minnesota native still seeking her first World Cup victory, claimed her fourth career runner-up finish. It was her first podium in the slalom this season.
Austria's Katharina Truppe finished 0.65 behind to claim third ahead of Switzerland's Camille Rast, who snapped Shiffrin's six-event slalom win streak in Slovenia last week.
Another American, Nina O'Brien, used the fastest second run to move up to a 13th-place finish.
The World Cup event in Czechia on Jan. 25 is the final slalom race before the Milan Cortina Winter Games begin Feb. 6.
