Lindsey Vonn placed second in a World Cup super-G event on Sunday in Tarvisio, Italy to earn a podium result for the seventh time in eight races.
Vonn, 41, finished 0.27 seconds behind winner Emma Aicher, a 22-year-old from Germany. Aicher prevailed in 1:14.04.
Vonn lost time in the closeout when compared to Aicher's concluding run.
'I felt disappointed in the way I skied the bottom,' Vonn said afterward. 'We had a course report and the coaches told me to do this line and I don't think it was the fastest.'
Vonn won a bronze medal in the super-G at the 2010 Winter Games at Vancouver. Her lone gold medal came in the downhill at the same Olympics.
Meanwhile, Aicher recorded her fourth victory in the lead-up to next month's Winter Olympics in Italy.
'I'm pretty happy with how I skied from top to bottom,' Aicher said. 'I had a few moments where it was like, 'Ooh, it could be tight.' But it was a nice course, it was fun to ski and I'm happy with how I skied.'
Finishing third in 1:14.98 was the Czech Republic's Ester Ledecka, the 2018 gold medalist in the event at the Pyeongchang Games.
France's Romane Mirdaoli (1:15.08) placed fourth and American Keely Cashman (1:15.15) was fifth.
