China firmly supports multilateralism, free trade: vice premier

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on Tuesday called on the global community to firmly support multilateralism and free trade, and stay committed to win-win cooperation.

He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while delivering a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

"Have you noticed that Trump wants to rule the world through Twitter?" Lula said at a public event in Rio Grande, a municipality in Brazil's southern state of Rio Grande do Sul.

U.S. forces seize 7th oil tanker allegedly linked to Venezuela in the Caribbean

The U.S. forces seized a seventh oil tanker allegedly related to Venezuela in the Caribbean on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Southern Command said on X.

"This morning, U.S. military forces, in support of the Department of Homeland Security, apprehended Motor Vessel Sagitta without incident," the command said in a statement.

Canadian PM voices support for Greenland, Denmark, opposing U.S. tariffs in Davos

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday expressed strong support for Greenland and Denmark and opposition to tariffs proposed by the United States.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Carney said, "We stand firmly with Greenland and Denmark and fully support their unique right to determine Greenland's future."
