Longtime Rams offensive lineman Rob Havenstein has announced his retirement, doing so via his Instagram Tuesday afternoon.
"11 years, 150+ starts, 4 time captain, 4 NFC West Championships, 2 NFC Championships and 1x Super Bowl Champion. What a ride it's been! I can look back on my career and smile knowing I have given everything I had and more to the game I love," he wrote on Instagram. "In saying that, I am officially retiring from the NFL."
Havenstein entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick (57th overall) by the Rams out of Wisconsin in 2015 and went on to play all 11 of his NFL seasons in horns. He started in all 148 regular season games he played, and those 148 career starts are seventh-most in franchise history. He also started another 13 playoff games, including as L.A.'s starting right tackle in its Super Bowl LVI victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since he was drafted in 2015, Havenstein has registered the fifth-most starts and snaps played among all offensive tackles in the NFL.
"Rob has been a steadying force for the Rams for more than a decade," head coach Sean McVay said. "His on-field production will always speak for itself, but his toughness, competitive greatness, and ability to pour into his teammates separated him as an elite leader. Rob has helped me grow and evolve in my nine seasons as the head coach of the Rams, and I'm so grateful for the experiences we've shared together."
Havenstein's authentic leadership was just as valuable to the Rams as his presence protecting the right side of the offensive line. This past season, he was voted a team captain by his teammates for the fourth-straight year, seamlessly taking over that leadership role for the offensive line after veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth's retirement following the 2021 season.
"Since the moment Rob joined our team, he has been a shining example of what it means to be a Ram," General Manager Les Snead said. "He's been instrumental in our organization's success and his leadership will leave a lasting mark on many of us. I've been fortunate to witness Rob's entire 11-year NFL career unfold with the Rams. His impact, on and off the field, has been immeasurable. I've shared with Rob that he has shown us the ideal blueprint of what a Ram is and it's up to us to be disciplined to continue the tradition he helped establish."
