Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady is filling out his coaching staff.
Alongside offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard and special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers, Brady hired his assistants as well. As of Feb. 13, the Bills have 20 assistants in place on their staff:
Run Game Coordinator/Tight Ends | Rob Boras
Boras joined the Bills in 2017 as the tight end coach. He oversaw successful seasons out of multiple tight ends tight end Dawson Knox registered a franchise record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end with nine in 2021, tight end Dalton Kincaid recorded the most catches all-time by a Bills tight end in 2023 with 73 and rookie tight end Jackson Hawes became one of the most important blockers in 2025.
In Boras' 10th season on Buffalo's staff, he adds to his title. With his promotion, Boras is now Buffalo's run game coordinator and tight ends coach.
Secondary | Joe Danna
Danna joined Buffalo's staff in 2023 as the safeties coach. In his first season, he helped coach the defense to record 17 interceptions and 27 takeaways. Both were the fourth-most in the NFL. In 2024, seven players had at least two interceptions, which tied for most in the NFL and the second-most in Bills history (1962). In 2025, the Bills finished as the best pass defense allowing just 156.9 passing yards per game. Cornerbacks Christian Benford (40.7 completion percentage allowed) and Tre'Davious White (32.1 completion percentage allowed) recorded the lowest completion percentages from Weeks 6-18.
As Danna enters his fourth season with the Bills, he is promoted to the secondary coach.
Assistant Wide Receivers | D.J. Mangas
Mangas joined the Bills staff in 2023 as an offensive assistant. He was promoted to offensive quality control coach for the 2024 season and entered 2025 as the offensive quality control/assistant wide receivers coach. Mangas helped coach an offense that averaged 28.3 points per game (fourth), 376.3 total yards per game (fourth) and scored touchdowns in the red zone 66.2 percent of the time (third) in 2025.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Mangas is focusing solely on being the assistant wide receivers coach.
Senior Defensive Assistant | Jason Rebrovich
Rebrovich joined Buffalo's staff in 2025 as the assistant defensive line coach. He also coached for the Bills from 2013-16 and held several different positions (defensive line, outside linebackers, assistant defensive line and defensive quality control coach). In 2025, he helped coach a defensive line that racked up 36 sacks and saw defensive end Joey Bosa lead the NFL with five forced fumbles.
Rebrovich gets a promotion under Brady as he moves from assistant defensive line coach to senior defensive assistant.
Assistant Quarterbacks | Kyle Shurmur
Shurmur joined the Bills staff in 2022 as a defensive quality control coach and moved to offensive quality control in 2023. Since 2022, he helped coach an offense that averaged 28.5 points per game (second) and 376.6 total yards per game (second). Quarterback Josh Allen also recorded 165 offensive touchdowns over that span, which lead the NFL.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Shurmur is promoted to the assistant quarterbacks coach.
Defensive Assistant | Alvin Vaughn
Vaughn joined Buffalo's staff in 2023 as the fellowship coach. He helped coach the defensive side of the football and oversaw a defense that recorded 17 interceptions and 27 takeaways (both fourth best) in 2023. In 2024, he coached a defense that had seven players record at least two interceptions, which tied for the most in the NFL. In 2025, the Bills finished as the best pass defense allowing just 156.9 passing yards per game.
Vaughn gets a promotion under Brady as he moves from fellowship coach to defensive assistant.
The following coaches return to the Bills coaching staff with the same titles ahead of the 2026 season.
Assistant Offensive Line | Austin Gund
Gund joined Buffalo's staff in 2022. He helped coach an offense that led the league in rushing yards in 2025 as it averaged 159.6 rushing yards per game.
Pass Game Specialist/Game Management | Mark Lubick
Lubick joined the Bills staff in 2017 and enters his 10th season with the team in 2026. Since 2017, the Bills are top 10 in points per game (25.6) and yards per game (357.9).
Running Backs | Kelly Skipper
Skipper joined Buffalo's staff in 2017 and also enters his 10th season with the Bills in 2026. Skipper oversaw the development of running back James Cook III who led the league in rushing yards in 2025 with 1,621. He also coached an offense that led the league in rushing yards in 2025 (averaged 159.6 rushing yards per game).
Assistant Special Teams | Turner West
West joined the Bills staff in 2025 and returns for 2026. In 2025, he helped coach a special teams unit that saw running back Ray Davis lead the NFL in kick return yards average with 30.4.
Offensive Assistant/Fellowship Coach | Milli Wilson
Wilson joined Buffalo's staff in 2024 as the fellowship coach and added offensive assistant to her title in 2025. She helped coach an offensive line that blocked for the best rushing offense in the league as it averaged 159.6 rushing yards per game in 2025.
Brady also added nine new assistants to his staff ahead of the 2026 season.
John Fox joins the Bills as their senior assistant coach. He spent two seasons in this role with the Colts in 2022 and Lions in 2023.
Fox also has head coaching experience, leading the Panthers from 2002-10, Broncos from 2011-14 and Bears from 2015-17. Before moving up the ranks, he was also a defensive coordinator (1994-95, 1997-2001) and defensive backs coach (1989-92) in the NFL after jumping up from the collegiate level. Fox started his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant and defensive backs coach.
Buffalo hired Illinois co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Terrance Jamison as its next defensive line coach. He spent three seasons with the Fighting Illini, starting in 2023.
His coaching experience comes exclusively from the collegiate level, making stops at Purdue, Air Force, Texas Tech and Florida Atlantic as defensive line coach. Jamison was also a defensive quality control coach at Cal and started his coaching career as a student assistant, defensive quality control assistant and graduate assistant at Wisconsin.
John Egorugwu returns to the Bills as their inside linebackers coach. From 2017-20, Egorugwu was Buffalo's assistant linebackers coach and defensive quality control coach. He added the assistant linebackers coach title in 2018.
He enters his 11th coaching season, all of which are in the NFL. He started out as a defensive staff assistant for Baltimore from 2015-16 and comes to the Bills from his three-season stint with the New York Giants as their inside linebackers coach (2022-25).
Bobby April III comes in as Buffalo's outside linebackers coach. He was previously Stanford's defensive coordinator for three seasons (2023-25) after coaching for Wisconsin as the Badgers' outside linebackers coach from 2018-22.
Before jumping back to the collegiate level, April was the Bills' linebackers coach from 2015-16 and held that same role with the New York Jets in 2014. He was the Jets' quality control coach in 2013 and held that same role for the Eagles from 2011-12. April also served as a graduate assistant and special teams coordinator at the start of his coaching career, which began in 2005.
Oklahoma assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator/pass defense Jay Valai was hired as the Bills' cornerbacks coach. From 2022-25, he coached the Sooners. In the 2024 offseason, he added the assistant head coach for defense title. He coached cornerbacks and nickelbacks for Oklahoma.
Valai started his coaching career with Georgia from 2016-17 as its defensive quality control coach, was Rutgers' cornerbacks coach in 2019, spent the 2020 season at Texas in that same role and was with Alabama in 2021. He has one season of NFL experience from 2018 when he was a defensive quality control coach for Kansas City.
Craig Robertson joins the Bills' staff as its defensive quality control coach.
Robertson was a former linebacker who officially retired from his playing days in 2022. He spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2012-15) after signing with them as an undrafted free agent in Dec. 2011. He finished his time as a player with New Orleans, signing with the team as an unrestricted free agent in 2016. He spent five seasons with the Saints (2016-20).
Buffalo hired offensive line coach Pat Meyer out of Pittsburgh, taking on the same role for the Bills. Meyer coached the Steelers from 2022-25 after a two-season stint in Carolina (2020-21) and three-season stint with the Chargers (2017-19).
This won't be the first time he joins Buffalo's coaching staff. From 2015-16, Meyer was a football operations consultant for the Bills and became their offensive assistant coach in 2016. He started his NFL coaching career with Chicago from 2013-14.
Meyer enters his 14th season coaching in the NFL in 2026 and 29th overall season.
Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree joins Brady's coaching staff in the same position. Hardegree was with the Titans in that role from 2024-25.
Prior to Tennessee, he was the Raiders' quarterbacks coach starting in 2022 and became interim offensive coordinator during the 2023 season in Las Vegas as well. Hardegree starting his coaching career at Duke and LSU before jumping into the NFL. He coached for the Broncos, Bears, Dolphins, Jets and Patriots before the Raiders and Titans.
Buffalo hired the Arizona Cardinals' offensive pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach Drew Terrell as its next wide receivers coach.
Terrell held both positions for Arizona from 2023-25 and was previously Washington's wide receivers coach. He started with the Commanders in 2020 as their assistant wide receivers coach before moving up the ranks. Terrell's NFL coaching career started in 2018 in Carolina as an offensive quality control coach. From 2014-17, he was a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech (2014) and Michigan (2015-17).
