The South Asian country has immense potential in the emerging world order, Denis Alipov has told RT
India is the future, the West is the past, and multipolarity is inevitable, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov has told RT India.
In an exclusive interview aired on Thursday, Alipov said Russia wants to see a strong India, adding: "And this is something you are going to see very soon."
Asked about US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent "offering permission" to India to purchase oil from Russia, he said: "The words were very indicative of the attitude the US has. I think areplyhas been already given by the Indian officials."
"Minister Jaishankar responded to it. New Delhi has repeatedly said it makes energy decisions it considers in its best interest based on costs and risks."
"I don't think the US wants or sees anybody as partners, junior partners at best, generally subordinates," Alipov said. "And this has to be understood by everybody with all the good intentions. The investments, the good offices from the US, comes with political conditions and pressure."
He went on to say that Russian oil cannot be excluded from the global basket.
"There will be an acute shortage of supply and offer if it happens. And so the developments in the Middle East show that. Whether India buys Russian oil or somebody else, it will be there," Alipov said.
India benefits from buying oil from Russia, he added. It has purchased 30 million barrels of oil from Russia following a US sanctions waiver, according to reports.
Alipov went on to describe the military action against Iran as a blatant violation of international law.
"Before that, you know, a midnight snatching of a legitimate president of an independent country happened in Venezuela," he said.
Alipov called for an end to the actions of the US and Israel against Iran. "The hostilities should stop at the earliest so that we have the stability and predictability in the Middle East."
