MIAMI, Florida: Tesla has expanded its autonomous ride-hailing ambitions by launching its robotaxi service in Miami, marking the latest step in the electric vehicle maker's push to grow its self-driving business.
The company said on July 3 that its robotaxi service is now available in Miami as it works to broaden the reach of its autonomous transportation platform.
"Robotaxi now available in Miami," Tesla's official robotaxi account said in a post on X.
The expansion is part of Tesla's strategy to drive wider adoption of its self-driving software, which powers its robotaxi fleet and forms a key pillar of CEO Elon Musk's shift toward artificial intelligence and robotics.
Tesla faces growing competition in the autonomous ride-hailing market, with rivals including Alphabet's Waymo and Amazon's Zoox also accelerating their expansion efforts.
The company launched its unsupervised robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, in June after announcing in April plans to expand the offering to Dallas and Houston.
Musk said in May that he expects fully self-driving cars operating without human safety monitors to become more widely available across the United States later this year.
The Miami rollout comes a day after Tesla reported record second-quarter vehicle deliveries that exceeded Wall Street expectations, driven by a rebound in European demand.
