SAN DIEGO, California: Qualcomm has signed a long-term agreement to supply chips for BMW's future digital cockpit and advanced driver-assistance systems, expanding its presence in the fast-growing automotive technology market.

Announced on July 29, the deal will see Qualcomm provide its Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions for BMW's next-generation vehicle platforms through the next decade.

The agreement includes cockpit processors, automated driving chips and AI accelerators, which the companies said will provide the hardware foundation for BMW's AI-led vehicle platforms.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The partnership comes as competition intensifies among technology companies seeking a larger share of the automated driving market. Qualcomm is competing with Nvidia and Mobileye, which are also supplying chips and software platforms to automakers.

Qualcomm, best known as a leading supplier of smartphone chips, has been steadily expanding its automotive business by developing technology for infotainment systems and advanced driver-assistance features.

"As agentic and physical AI drive a new generation of intelligent vehicles, this collaboration enables both companies to define the future of mobility," said Nakul Duggal, group general manager for automotive, industrial and embedded IoT and robotics at Qualcomm.

The new agreement builds on an existing partnership between the two companies. Qualcomm previously supplied the Snapdragon Ride Pilot driver-assistance system for BMW's electric iX3, enabling features such as hands-free highway driving, automatic lane changes and parking assistance.

The latest deal extends that relationship and positions Qualcomm to supply key computing hardware for BMW's future AI-powered vehicle platforms over the coming decade.
