GREEN BAY The Packers conducted their ninth practice of training camp inside the Hutson Center on Sunday, as weather pushed the team's workout indoors.
Here are five things we learned:
1.Javon HargraveandChris Brooksmade their training camp debuts.
Hargrave and Brooks were on the practice field for the first time after missing the first 1 weeks of training camp with knee and hamstring injuries, respectively.
An 11th-year veteran who signed with Green Bay in March, Hargrave missed the final part of the team's offseason program with what he called "a little flare up" that caused him to start camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Although Hargrave only performed individual drills on Sunday, it felt good to be back in the action again.
"Going to meetings and not being able to watch yourself is just a different feeling," Hargrave said. "It was just good to be out there to do something."
Brooks can relate. The third-year running back, who signed an extension with Green Bay in the offseason, opened camp on the non-football injury list after straining his hamstring during the team's summer break.
Brooks isn't used to being a spectator. He's played in 34 consecutive games for Green Bay since signing to the Packers' 53-man roster in September 2024.
The 6-foot-1, 219-pound running back has generated 555 total yards with a touchdown on 106 touches with the Packers while garnering praise for his work on special teams and in pass protection.
"It felt great honestly, being back with the guys," Brooks said. "(The injury was) a good lesson. But now I'm back, and I'm glad to be with the guys getting after it."
Brooks' return comes at a good time for the Packers, who have been without former Pro Bowl running backJosh Jacobsthe past week due to a groin injury.
Meanwhile, Green Bay is getting closer to 100% on the interior defensive line. In addition to Hargrave's return to practice,Devonte Wyattalso participated in team 11-on-11s for the first time since injuring his ankle last Thanksgiving in Detroit.
Based on the first nine practices, Hargrave likes what he's seen from the D-line.
"It's been dominant," Hargrave said. "We've been making a lot of plays, especially up front, just winning a lot of 1-on-1s and taking the ball away on the back end. But that's really what we preach."
2.Savion Williamsstepped up amidst injuries at receiver.
The Packers were without several starters in their first practice coming out of Family Night.
WRsJayden Reed(ankle) andMatthew Golden(toe), LBEdgerrin Cooper(foot) and TEJosh Whyle(neck) sat out with injuries while LBZaire Franklinwas given the day off after traveling to former teammate Adam Vinatieri's Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio.
With Reed and Golden rehabbing, 2025 third-round pick Williams saw a surge in snaps and made the most of them. Among his five catches in 11-on-11, Williams pulled down a 60-yard touchdown fromKyle McCordafter a coverage bust.
The performance came on the heels of a strong Family Night in which Williams flashed his hands and body control while high-pointing a 15-yard TD in a red-zone period.
"His measurables are off the charts in terms of his size, speed, and strength," Head Coach Matt LaFleur said after Family Night. "He's just a young player that's still learning and he's got a long way to go, but I think he's showcased a lot of great traits and that's why we drafted him and that's why we loved him coming out."
3.Thomas Yassminremains forever grateful to Dalton Kincaid for helping keep his NFL dreams alive.
The Australian-born tight end made his Packers debut during Family Night, nearly two weeks after signing with Green Bay after a successful workout.
Released by the Los Angeles Chargers in May, Yassmin was forced to return home in the offseason since he no longer had an active visa.
He returned to the U.S. under visitor status and lived with Kincaid, his former Utah teammate who's entering his third season with the Buffalo Bills, until receiving word last week his paperwork went through and he could report to Green Bay.
"He's one of my very close friends from college, probably my best mate," Yassmin said. "Without him, it probably wouldn't be possible. He was really, really supportive. Letting me come stay with him and happy to help me out while I was looking for a place (in the NFL)."
A native of Syndey, Yassmin grew up playing rugby before catching the eye of college football scouts. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end accepted a scholarship offer to Utah, where he caught 22 passes for 396 yards and seven TDs in 47 games.
Yassmin ran a 4.58 time in the 40 at his pro day and spent the past two seasons on practice squads in Denver and Los Angeles. He's hopeful the third NFL stop in Green Bay is the charm.
"It was a long road," said Yassmin of his football journey. "If I'm going to be honest, if I knew, I might not have made that decision, but I'm glad I did."
4.Zach Bako-Bewelereturns to team, offensive line adjusts.
Like Wyatt, Bako-Bewele took his first 11-on-11 reps of the training camp since undergoing surgery to repair a partially torn patellar tendon in the offseason.
With Bako-Bewele back at starting right tackle, the Packers opened team with third-year veteranJacob Monklined up at right guard and rookieJager Burtonstationed at left guard in place of starterAaron Banks, who's monitoring his knee.
Anthony Belton, who finished last year as Green Bay's starting right guard, rotated in behind Bako-Bewele at right tackle.
"I'm still out there getting reps, so no matter where I'm at, just maximizing my reps," Belton said. "You wanna take advantage of those opportunities, continue to come out here. Just be consistent and grow. Just stack days, plays, so doesn't matter where I'm at. If I'm out there, I just wanna get better."
5. LaFleur hasn't made any decisions on who'll play in the preseason opener at Pittsburgh.
LaFleur told reporters prior to practice Sunday that his message to the team is "anybody that's healthy better be ready to play."
Green Bay has played its starters in the preseason opener during each ofJordan Love's first three years as a starting quarterback. However, Love did suffer an injury to his left thumb during last year's opener against the New York Jets that required minor surgery and caused him to miss a week of practice.
