New Delhi [India], August 11: BlueRose Publishers presents Chamanpur Village: A Tale about Boys and Men, the debut fiction novel by Pramila Sankarankutty. Blending village fiction with elements of mystery and light fantasy, the novel explores themes of friendship, brotherhood and social responsibility through the story of an imaginary village brought together in the face of an unexpected crisis. With its focus on compassion, unity and collective growth, the book offers a thoughtful narrative that remains relevant in a world where communities continue to grapple with division and change.
Set in the fictional village of Chamanpur, the story follows four lifelong friends whose peaceful lives are disrupted when a mysterious creature begins appearing every night. What initially seems to be an unexplained supernatural event gradually evolves into a deeper exploration of human nature. As fear spreads across the village, hidden emotions including envy, mistrust and selfish ambition begin to surface, testing friendships and threatening the harmony that once defined the community. Guided by the enigmatic Maalik, the four friends embark on a journey that challenges not only their courage but also their understanding of loyalty, responsibility and leadership.
Rather than relying solely on suspense or fantasy, Chamanpur Village: A Tale about Boys and Men places its emphasis on the emotional and social transformation of its characters. The novel explores how communities respond to uncertainty and demonstrates that lasting change is often achieved through cooperation rather than conflict. Through its fictional setting, the story highlights values that transcend differences of caste, class, religion and creed, presenting kindness and mutual respect as the foundation of a stronger society.
One of the distinctive aspects of the novel is the way it transforms an imaginary village into a reflection of contemporary society. Chamanpur itself becomes an important character, symbolising the strength that emerges when individuals work together despite personal differences. Instead of portraying heroism through extraordinary powers, the narrative suggests that ordinary people can create meaningful change through empathy, perseverance and shared purpose. This approach gives the novel a broader social relevance while maintaining the charm of a character-driven work of fiction.
Written in a clear and accessible style, the book balances mystery with emotional storytelling, making it suitable for readers who enjoy village-based fiction, family-centred narratives and stories with uplifting themes. While the mysterious nightly visitor drives the plot, the novel ultimately focuses on the enduring importance of friendship, community and the belief that even small acts of kindness can transform lives. By combining elements of fantasy with realistic human emotions, the story offers a reading experience that is both engaging and reflective.
