New Delhi [India], August 12 (ANI): Launching a strong attack on Rahul Gandhi over stalemate in Parliament and the opposition not taking up the government offer of discussion on students' protest, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday alleged that the Congress leader 'constantly ridicules the nation', 'everything is a joke for him' and that people simply 'doesn't care about him'.

Talking with ANI, Kangana Ranaut said the Congress under Rahul Gandhi's leadership has 'lost a hundred elections' and 'he would have no standing at all'.

The actor-turned-politician pointed to Rahul Gandhi's role as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and said he would not even get this role in the future and 'this will be his final term'.

She accused Rahul Gandhi of making a mockery of the Parliament and the country.

She said that the Congress leader has been demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah on students' protest and then says, 'we are not going to listen to him'.

'I feel he is making a mockery of the country. He constantly ridicules the nation; for him, everything is a joke. This is the first time I am seeing Parliament being made such a mockery of. In the same breath, he says, 'We want an answer from Amit Shah ji--asking whether or not he did such-and-such to the students--while simultaneously declaring, 'We are not here to listen to him'. He has no sense of shame or propriety left,' she alleged.

'The whole world is watching and wondering what kind of person this is. The way he is venting his frustration and insulting Parliament and, by extension, the entire nation and its citizens convinces me, as someone observing his role as Leader of the Opposition, that this will be his final term,' she added.

The BJP MP referred to Rahul Gandhi's remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he had sought his apology over alleged police action on protestors in Delhi on July 20.

'He is demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister--a democratically elected leader who has secured a massive mandate for a third consecutive term. He seems to think that no one else in this country should even exist but him. Then there are his other actions--colluding with figures like Soros or international forces to tear the country apart and leave it in ruins. Ultimately, it doesn't matter whose resignation he demands or what he wants, because the public simply doesn't care about him,' the BJP MP said.

Kangana Ranaut, who is MP from Mandi, also referred to the foreign origin of Congress Parliamentary Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and said she is forcing the opposition leaders to accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader.

'It is his Italian mother who is somehow forcing the Opposition to accept him as their leader; otherwise, given that he has lost a hundred elections, he would have no standing at all,' Kangana Ranaut alleged.

Opposition has been demanding a statement from Amit Shah over 'police action' against protestors in the national capital on July 20. Oppositon parties have forced repeated adjournments of the two Houses of Parliament since the monsoon session of Parliament began on July 20.

Amit Shah on Wednesday said the government was ready for a detailed discussion on the student protests over the NEET paper leak and that he was prepared to answer questions in the House

The Union Home Minister said he is ready to answer any question in Parliament, but the Opposition does not want to allow a discussion to take place.

Responding to the Opposition's demand, the Union Home Minister said that some people were asking him to simply make a statement, but such a serious matter cannot be addressed through a statement alone. He said that Parliament has established rules and procedures for holding discussions, and under parliamentary practice, matters are discussed at length. A statement will also be made in accordance with parliamentary conventions.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister also said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that if the opposition wants, discussion on students' protest can begin immediately, and the Union Home Minister will reply to the debate.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday signalled the opposition's unwillingness to back off from its protest and take up the Home Minister offer of a debate in the House on the police action on the protests.

'The Opposition has clearly said that we are not interested in Amit Shah giving us a lecture. When I say 'we', I mean the younger generation of this country. Who shot the students? Who gave the order to beat up the students with lathis with nails? Did Amit Shah give this order to shoot our children? If he did, then he should resign. For the last 20 days, Amit Shah has been missing. The Home Minister of India has no courage; he cannot come to the House,' Rahul Gandhi told reporters in the Parliament complex.

The monsoon session of Parliament will conclude tomorrow. (ANI)
