NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stock indexes were sharply divided at the close on Monday, with technology stocks, losing ground, while the industrial sector drew some support. Oil prices rose after the attack on Saudi Arabia's international airport, and despite a truce President Trump announced, signifying Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to attack each other's energy resources.
The Standard and Poor's 500 closed at 7,807.20, down 4.34 points, a decline of 0.06 percent on volume of 2.209 billion. The index traded between a low of 7,796.94 and a high of 7,821.67 on the day, against a 52-week range of 6,316.91 to 7,844.52.

The divergent performance left the Dow as the day's clear winner, while the S&P 500's fractional loss and the Nasdaq's steeper decline reflected continued pressure on technology-heavy names.
