The NFL Draft is now just over two weeks away.

The Bolts holdthe 22nd overall pickin the 2025 NFL Draft and currently have 10 selections. The draft will be held in Green Bay from April 24-26.

Los Angeles would love for one of the top three receivers or top two tight ends to be sitting there when it is on the clock. And there's a chance the Chargers reach slightly for someone like Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State) or Luther Burden III (Missouri). I lean toward a better value move: Pick an impact lineman for the run game now, and wait until Day 2 for a deep pool of playmakers. Zabel played all over in college, with starts at both tackle positions and both guard spots. He's a tone-setter who drives defenders off the ball, and he could help open rush lanes at left guard.

Second round (No. 55):TE Mason Taylor, LSU

The Chargers signed Tyler Conklin, and drafting Taylor would fill out an intriguing tight end room for quarterback Justin Herbert. Taylor is a big target at 6-foot-5 and 251 pounds. He caught 55 passes last season with just one drop.

Jim Harbaugh's backfield needs thunder and lightning. And Hampton, a 221-pound hammer with speed and wiggle, can be both at the same time. Not only did he rush for more than 3,000 combined yards the last two years, but also he had more than 60 catches.

Jim Harbaugh would be taking one of his former Michigan players to help the interior of the defense. Grant is a power player who also can push the pocket. The Chargers have had some turnover inside on the defensive line this spring, so he would be an ideal pick.

Loveland is listed at 6-5, 237 pounds, and while he runs like he's 185, he plays like he's 260. He'll run through open-field arm tackles all day long, he has an enormous catch radius, and he's a precise route runner, looking like a receiver at times in his movement skills. He's a willing blocker, but like most pass-catching tight ends coming into the league, he'll need to improve in this area.

Jim Harbaugh knows Loveland, his former tight end at Michigan, is a more dynamic weapon and will give Justin Herbert more firepower. The 20-year-old Loveland is 6-6, 248 pounds and led the anemic 2024 Wolverines offense with 56 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns despite being the primary focus of every opposing secondary.

The Chargers let a few veterans go this offseason and if the goal is to get younger, then get younger along the defensive front. Alexander isn't from a big-time program, but he scored as the fifth-best defensive tackle at the Combine. He's also 6-4 and knows how to use his size to win blocks. He's also a smart player with pass rush tools already in his arsenal. He's not super-quick, but can potentially be developed under a defensive coordinator like Jesse Minter.

They just want the best available receiving option at this point, and Golden fits the bill. While there is debate about his 40-yard dash time, there is no debate about his receiving chops. He is a solid route runner with explosive quickness to defeat man coverage.

Last year, the Chargers got it right with the second-round selection of Ladd McConkey, the 6'0", 185-pound receptions machine who thrives from the slot position. Now the Chargers get Justin Herbert a big-body wideout who can make acrobatic plays on the outside. The 6'5", 212-pound McMillan will be a dangerous red zone threat at the next level because of his sizable catch radius.

Justin Herbert needs more weapons to help the Chargers take the next step, so it makes sense for Jim Harbaugh to continue building Michigan West with the talented Loveland, a big target with big playmaking ability.

This is a common projection in part because it would reunite Loveland with his former college coach Jim Harbaugh, but the fit really does make sense for the Chargers. Los Angeles lacked a movable matchup player at tight end in 2024, and Loveland is exactly that. At 6-foot-6 and 248 pounds, he is too big for defensive backs to cover, but he's also faster than most linebackers with his seam-stretching speed and nifty route running.

Second round (No. 55):WR Elic Ayomanor, Stanford

The Chargers brought Mike Williams back this offseason, but he's 30 years old and on a one-year deal. Even after I projected tight end Colston Loveland to them in Round 1, the Chargers should be looking for WRs to slot alongside Ladd McConkey outside. Ayomanor has developmental upside thanks to his 4.44 speed and 6-foot-2 size.

It would not be all that surprising if NFL teams overthought Tetairoa McMillan after running a mediocre 40-yard dash time. Drake London never ran the 40-yard dash but I doubt anyone expected him to run sub 4.5 seconds and that did not stop him from going No. 8 overall.

It's pretty easy to marry Loveland to the Bolts given his Wolverines connection to HC Jim Harbaugh and the team's glaring need for a playmaker at tight end. Loveland (6-6, 248) is a huge target and averaged nearly 15 yards per catch during his first two years in Ann Arbor when J.J. McCarthy was throwing to him. The main question is whether Loveland will actually be available this late into Round 1.
