Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was the latest athlete to have his home burglarized he was while with his team for a game.
The Titans said in a statement Monday the team is working with the Metro Nashville Police Department on a recovery effort for items that were taken from the property by at least six suspects.
Simmons' home was broken into Sunday after 7 p.m. local time as the Titans were wrapping up a road game against the San Francisco 49ers at Santa Clara, Calif. A window was smashed to gain access to the house while no residents were present.
Simmons called police when he arrived home early Monday morning.
'Lol bro this s--t was planned out ... big a-- house and yall hit one room? You knew exactly where my master room was?? Yea okayyyyy smh,' Simmons posted to Instagram Monday with a picture of a smashed sliding-glass door.
'What if any of my family members was in my house?? All that materialistic s--- you can have but this is crazy!' he added.
Simmons, 28, has 55 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 12 games (all starts) this season. In 96 games (94 starts) over seven seasons with the Titans, the former 19th overall draft pick in 2019 has 364 tackles, 63 tackles for loss, six fumble recoveries and seven forced fumbles.
Simmons also was used on offense Sunday, catching a 1-yard touchdown pass. He has two career receptions, both for touchdowns, after also scoring on a 2-yard catch in 2023.
Athletes whose homes have been burglarized in recent years include Luka Doncic when he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks and Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns earlier this year.
