After one season away, free agent catcher Gary Sanchez is returning to the Milwaukee Brewers on a one-year, $1.75 million contract, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.
Sanchez batted .220 in 2024 for the Brewers with 11 home runs, 37 RBIs, a .307 on-base percentage and a .392 slugging percentage in 89 games.
The 33-year-old signed with the Baltimore Orioles for the 2025 campaign and batted .231 (21-for-91) with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 29 games. He missed much of the season due to injuries, including right wrist inflammation and a right knee sprain.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Sanchez started strong in MLB with the New York Yankees. He was second in the 2016 American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer.
An All-Star with the Yankees in 2017 and 2019, Sanchez was the 2017 AL Silver Slugger Award winner at catcher.
For his career, Sanchez is batting .224 with 189 homers, 509 RBIs, a .309 on-base percentage and a .461 slugging percentage in 859 regular-season games with the Yankees (2015-21), Minnesota Twins (2022), New York Mets (2023), San Diego Padres (2023), Brewers and Orioles.
