DUBAI, U.A.E.: Iran carried out more attacks on U.S. allies in the Gulf and on Jordan on Saturday, after the United States launched strikes on Iranian military targets for the seventh night in a row. The targets included logistics hubs, and the fighting has now intensified one week after a ceasefire collapsed.

Kuwait faced continuous attacks, with a desalination plant hit and operations at Kuwait International Airport suspended because of repeated missile and drone threats.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had hit a U.S. military support center at Camp Arifjan and destroyed a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation later said one of its oil facilities had been struck in repeated Iranian attacks, causing major damage and some injuries, according to the state news agency.

Kuwait's armed forces said they intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and drones early on July 18. They added that several firefighters and oil sector workers were injured while responding to the attacks.

Iran's actions came in response to U.S. strikes on bridges, power facilities and other infrastructure.

In a statement, the IRGC said that since there was no international body to stop what it described as the U.S. military's actions, it had no option but to follow a Quranic command to respond in the same way to any attack. It also warned U.S. allies in the region to expect further strikes.

Iranian state media reported that the IRGC targeted a site in Bahrain where U.S. combat aircraft were stationed at Sheikh Isa Air Base, as well as an intelligence data center.

According to Iranian state television, the Guards also said they had destroyed at least two U.S. fighter jets and three other aircraft during a missile and drone attack early on July 18 on the U.S. base in Al Azraq, Jordan.

Reuters said it could not independently verify these claims.

Iran also launched attacks on Saudi Arabia for the first time in about three months, according to two sources familiar with the situation. This triggered early warning alarms in Al-Kharj, east of Riyadh, and in Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.

The sources said one of the attacks targeted Prince Sultan Airbase in Al-Kharj, where U.S. forces are based.

Saudi state media did not explain what caused the alerts, and the government media office did not respond to a request for comment. The IRGC did not mention any attack on Saudi Arabia.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was concerned about the escalation, especially the attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran and across the region, according to his spokesperson on July 17.

Iranian media also reported strikes early on July 18 in Hormozgan Province near the Strait of Hormuz. State television said three people were killed and eight injured, while two bridges and a road tunnel were damaged.
