The Milwaukee Brewers will return home and will look to keep their momentum going as they face the Texas Rangers in a three-game series starting Friday night.
With just four weeks left in the regular season, the Brewers, owners of the best record in the majors at 83-51, have won eight of their last 11 games. That success includes the final two games in New York, as manager Pat Murphy's team defeated the Mets 8-2 on Thursday to claim their fourth consecutive series.
Milwaukee, which has 16 runs in its last two games, will host a Rangers team that has given up 21 runs in its past two contests -- both losses -- to the Chicago White Sox. Despite a sub-.500 record, Texas (66-68) remains in striking distance for either the American League West title or the league's final wild-card spot.
Texas had Thursday off as the team traveled less than 100 miles to Milwaukee for the last leg of its six-game road trip.
'We put ourselves in a little bit of a hole to start this road trip, but there's a lot of games left,' Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said after Wednesday's 10-4 defeat to the White Sox. 'The division, where it's at right now, we still have a chance.'
Left-hander Cody Bradford (0-2, 3.05 ERA) will make his fifth start for the Rangers since returning from an elbow injury and surgery that had kept him out since spring training last year.
Bradford, who will face the Brewers for the first time in his career, got the loss last Saturday despite holding the Los Angeles Angels to two runs on seven hits and no walks over 5 1/3 innings as the Rangers fell 3-0 at home.
On Friday, Milwaukee starter Logan Henderson (8-2, 2.60 ERA) will oppose the Rangers for the first time in his MLB career. The rookie has been one of the National League's top pitchers since the All-Star Break. Over his last seven starts, the right-hander is 5-1, allowing just 10 runs over 41 innings (2.20 ERA).
Henderson also has allowed just 27 hits and seven walks while striking out 45 in that span.
Offensively for the Brewers, Jackson Chourio had one of his best games this season on Thursday, one day after getting his first game off since May 31. The left fielder posted his third four-hit game of the season and the first since June 13. He also tied his season highs with two home runs and four RBIs.
Chourio, whose season started on May 4 after he missed 33 games due to a broken left hand he suffered in the World Baseball Classic in March, was batting .322 with nine homers and 26 RBIs through June 14.
Before Thursday's breakthrough, the 22-year-old had hit just .248 with eight homers and 24 RBIs in his last 63 games.
Murphy said after Thursday's win that Chourio needed the break on Wednesday, as the 22-year-old may have been 'overamped' in his last few games.
'He's just a good hitter, man,' the Brewers' manager said. 'He's ready to hit every pitch, and that's what we like about him. ... He was great tonight. He controlled the game.'
Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford has four straight two-hit games. That ties him with Cleveland's Steven Kwan and Philadelphia's Bryce Harper for the longest current such streak.
Langford's teammate Corey Seager had a five-game multi-hit streak earlier this month, one of 13 players to have such a streak in 2026. San Francisco's Casey Schmitt holds the season's longest at seven.
