TOKYO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended losses on Monday, weighed down by broad selling in inbound-related stocks.
The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, closed 52.62 points, or 0.10 percent, lower at 50,323.91.
The index at one point tumbled more than 500 points and briefly dropped below the psychologically important 50,000 line.
The broader Topix fell for a second day, ending down 12.28 points, or 0.37 percent, at 3,347.53.
On the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime market, decliners totaled 932, while 618 issues rose and 63 were unchanged.
