Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 22 (ANI): The Indian Institute of Management Jammu on Saturday celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of excellence, innovation, research, leadership and societal impact.
The day-long event at Mandapam, IIM Jammu, brought together representatives from the government, academia, industry, Board of Governors, faculty members, students, alumni and institutional partners.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, congratulated IIM Jammu on completing a decade of achievements and appreciated its contribution towards strengthening management education and supporting socio-economic development in the region.
Due to a prior engagement, the Lieutenant Governor kept his address brief but praised the leadership of IIM Jammu Director Prof. B.S. Sahay and expressed confidence that the institute would continue to nurture responsible and future-ready leaders while contributing to the vision of a developed India.
The inaugural session was presided over by Padma Shri Dr Milind P. Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, and was attended by Shriram S. Dandekar, Vice-Chairman and Executive Director, Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. and Former Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, along with Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research.
Dr Kamble described IIM Jammu's first decade as a journey of institution-building, academic excellence and nation-building. Recalling its beginning at the Canal Road transit campus in 2016, he highlighted the institute's transformation into a leading management institution with over 1,400 students, multiple academic programmes and a 200-acre permanent campus at Jagti.
He also highlighted the institute's initiatives, including CITaG, Mission YUVA, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Skill Development, Centre for Small Business Development, Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, Anandam-The Centre for Happiness and the Bandhan programme, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, inclusion and community development.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, in his welcome address, reflected on the institute's journey from 47 students in 2016 to a vibrant institution with more than 1,400 students. He said IIM Jammu was founded on the belief that geography should never be a barrier to excellence and emphasised its role in nation-building through management education.
He highlighted the institute's growth in academic programmes, research, industry partnerships and global collaborations, along with its international accreditations and improving rankings. He also mentioned IIM Jammu's 35th position in NIRF 2025 and other national rankings as recognition of its growing academic stature.
Shiv Shivakumar, Operating Partner, Advent International, stressed that business schools must continuously evolve and focus on quality, global exposure and real-world learning. He said future leaders must be prepared to handle uncertainty, adapt to change and create meaningful value.
Anand Kripalu, Operating Partner, Kedaara Capital and Member, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, encouraged students to focus on continuous learning, resilience and purpose. He urged young professionals to learn from failures, gain practical experience and strive to create a lasting impact.
During the celebrations, a series of coffee table books documenting IIM Jammu's decade-long journey were released by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The publications highlighted the institute's growth, research achievements, cultural initiatives and engagement with the local community.
The 10th anniversary celebrations concluded with IIM Jammu reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, responsible leadership and contributing towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. (ANI)
