Trey Mancini will sign a one-day contract and retire as a member of the Baltimore Orioles on Sept. 19, the player and team announced Friday.
Mancini, who announced his retirement on Aug. 18, will be honored in a pregame celebration before the Orioles host the Milwaukee Brewers.
Drafted in the eighth round by Baltimore in 2013, Mancini was named the 2021 American League Comeback Player of the Year after beating Stage 3 colon cancer and missing the entire 2020 season.
Mancini, 34, did not play in the majors in 2024 or 2025 and played just five games for the Los Angeles Angels this season before being designated for assignment on June 17.
An outfielder, first baseman and designated hitter, he registered a .263 career batting average with 129 homers and 404 RBIs in 836 games for the Orioles (2016-22), Houston Astros (2022), Chicago Cubs (2023) and Angels.
He had career bests of 35 homers and 97 RBIs for the Orioles in 2019 and won a World Series with the Astros in 2022.
