LONDON, U.K.: A man who has both British and Iranian citizenship has been charged over an arson attack in April on a memorial wall in north London, an area with a large Jewish community, police said on Wednesday.
Ali Reza Fallahi, 45, is accused of attacking the wall in Golders Green, which displayed pictures of protesters who were allegedly killed by the Iranian state in January. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on June 18.
"This charge is another step forward in one of the investigations into a series of arson attacks targeting the Jewish community and the Iranian diaspora in London," said Helen Flanagan, head of counter-terrorism policing in London.
A 38-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the attack has been released and will face no further action.
The incident was one of several arson attacks on Jewish sites in Golders Green during a wave of such incidents, with police examining whether there could be links to Iran.
Two Jewish men were also stabbed, leading the government to raise the national terrorism threat level from "substantial" to "severe."
