Green Bay and men's basketball head coach Doug Gottlieb have agreed to a contract extension through the 2030-31 season.
The move follows a significant turnaround from his first season in 2024-25, when the Phoenix finished 4-28. Last season, Green Bay posted an 18-15 record, including a 17-10 edge in its final 27 games.
Gottlieb, 50, and staff engineered also guided an improvement in conference play, moving from 2-18 in the Horizon League in his first season to 12-8 in his second.
'Doug is building a program that this entire region can be proud of year in and year out,' athletic director Josh Moon said. 'He is recruiting the right kind of guys that put in the work to excel in the classroom and on the court, while positively impacting this community. We are excited to watch the continued growth of this program under Doug's leadership.'
The contract extension for Gottlieb is in tandem with the extension granted to Moon earlier this week. His new deal also runs through 2031.
No financial details were disclosed by the university.
'I am supremely appreciative of Chancellor Mike Alexander and Josh Moon in awarding me this contract extension,' said Gottlieb, who played his college basketball at Notre Dame and Oklahoma State. 'Green Bay is just an incredible place to live, work, and grow, and the next five years our goal is to return the Phoenix to our rightful spot at or near the top of the Horizon League every single year.'
